He was born in 1956 in Lahore. He completed his basic education from CB School, Rawalpindi. He obtained Higher Secondary School Certificate from Sir Syed College, Rawalpindi. He obtained MBBS Degree from Quaid-i-Azam Medical College, Bahawlapur. He joined Islami Jamiat Talba (IJT) in 1975 in Bahawalpur and remained Nazim of its Medical College. He was also elected President Students Union of Medical College during 1978 to 1980.
